Our Labor Day special takes us from the streets of Wisconsin to Southern California. We are joined by representatives of labor organizations of teachers, firefighters, the Wisconsin AFL-CIO and the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 770. Wisconsin is undoubtedly ground zero as the Tea Party and other conservative led forces make an all out attack on the rights of workers. And the fight did not end with passage of Gov Walkerâs anti-union law; it did not end with the somewhat mixed results of the recall election. Workers, students and other community residents in Wisconsin, a state that gave birth to the labor movement are determined never to give up, never to give in.
And in Southern California, grocery workers have voted to authorize a strike as difficult negotiations with supermarket chains continue.
